We rolled in on Friday to kick off a new format as to what we have seen in the previous years.

The day was critical for both Super 2 and Supercars as there was the all important qualifying sessions across the morning.

Dunlop series rolled out first and the four cars were once again around the mark sitting well inside the top 10 for most of the session.

Rylan and Reuben were battling it out for the top position on the timing charts, separated by only 0.019s at the halfway point of the session.

When the session came to a close, it was Rylan that punched the fastest time and made his intentions known for the weekend.

DUNLOP QUALIFYING RACE 1 RESULTS

#5 Reuben Goodall: 3rd

#6 Lochie Dalton: 7th

#55 Rylan Gray: 1st

#222 Nash Morris: 8th

We then welcomed the first of the rain as we reached qualifying for the main game.

It was light but there was a real shift in the weather as the cloud well and truly surrounded the Adelaide street circuit.

The cars rolled out and started to test their limits around the 3.219km track with the infamous turn 8 continuing to be the biggest test of late breaking.

Randle had a small spin at turn 4 in the later part of the session, turning and tagging the wall which casued a little cosmetic damage.

The team returned to the garage to review the damage and out came the race tape to get it back togther for the critical last phase of the session.

Cindric was continuing to understand the street circuit and added in a rain element which added a new lesson for his second time in the car in Adelaide.

Whilst Randle's car was being tapped up, the cameras cut to show Waters as he found the tyre barrier on the inside of turn 1 and caused some structural damage to his front bar.

The car returned to pit lane and out came another role of race tape which was heavily applied to the front of Car #6.

Cindric joined the Tickford damage list as he also found the tyre barrier into turn 1 which required a front bar change before going back out into the session.

The timing of Randle's repairs meant he was not able to capitalise on the improving track when the chequered flag fell.

Cindric continues to improve as he extends his seat time in Adelaide. His lap times were strong in comparrison to yesterday and he is full focused on executing from here on out.

QUALIFYING RESULTS

#6 Cam Waters: 3rd

#55 Thomas Randle: 11th

#5 Austin Cindric: 24th

To say the heavens then opened up would be an understatement. The precinct experienced an almighty dump of rain that caused the second Dunlop Series Qualifying session.

This means that the combined practice times from Thursday will set the grid for Sundays final race for the Dunlop Series.

ABANDONED SESSION | COMBINED PRACTICE RESULTS SET THE GRID FOR RACE 2

#6 Lochie Dalton: 3rd

#55 Rylan Gray: 5th

#222 Nash Morris: 7th

There was a delay to the Friday race as the rain continued to fall and provide a lot of standing water over the track.

When the cars went out to line up, the preparation time was cut short and drivers remained in the cars before the call was made to start the warm up lap.

Both drivers made strong starts off the line hllding position through the first few corners.

Waters was right behind the front pair battling and rubbing trying to warm the tyres quick enough to get an overtake.

Randle was caught in a little bit of traffic and dropped a sport at the mid point of the first lap. Cindric did well to dodge a stalled car off the line in what was his first standing start in the wet for his Supercars debut.

As the race progressed, Waters was continuing the work the tyres into the window but was having no luck with the track temperature remaining so low.

Cindric found himself in some open air once the first lot of cars pitted, this allowed him to push the limits a bit more and find his rhythm for the 100km race.

At the three quater mark of the race, Randle had made his way into the turn 8 barrier which ultimately ended his afternoon and red flagged the session.

The crash, marked at 54G, occurred after his approach to turn 8 caused him to aquaplane and he was a passenger to the fast approaching wall.

The race was called from there and the 15 second Waters penalty was served after the race, dropping him just outside the 10.

Once again, commendable effort from Cindric to bring the car home as it rolled out. Having your debut race be in the wet and at one of the countries hardest circuits is fear evoking for most.

We know there is more in the car and he is working tirelsesly with the team to extract that for the weekend ahead.

As for Car #55, the team are confident on a fix tonight that will continue Randle's weekend and have him back on the track tomorrow.

Thanks to all the fans who braved the weather today in Adelaide, We can't wait to see you again over the weekend as we look to bounce back.
