Gloomy skies and pouring rain once again kicked off the start of day 2 on the GC.

‍

There was a glimmer of sun that came through right before the start of the Top Ten Shootout. This meant we saw the return of the slick tyres for an all out attack on the shootout for both boys.

‍

Waters opened proceedings, throwing the #6 Mustang around the circuit under the GC sun. Across the lap he struggled with rear grip, which has been a slight issue for the team this weekend as well as an annoying high pitch radio issue in his ear.

‍

Randle rolled out two cars later, similar grip issues prevailed although he set a mega lap for what he could push out of the car.

‍

TOP TEN SHOOTOUT

#6 Cam Waters: 7th

#55 Thomas Randle: 6th

‍

The heaviest dump we have seen all weekend made its way to the track right as we rolled out for the first race of the weekend.

‍

On the grid, cars were covered in plastic wrap, attempting to hold out any water making its way inside the cars.

‍

With five minutes to go before race start, it was declared that it would start under safety car. A clear sign that the water on the track was far beyond safe running, as almost every centimetre was standing water.

‍

With lap six on the brink, the safter car lights went out and there were green flags waived to start a very wet GC race.

‍

Credit to the boys, as they tackled the circuit in what could only be considered torturous conditions and did it without bringing the safety car back out.

‍

First stints for both cars were strong, as both Waters and Randle found their feet on track they were hitting their marks as best they could, making strong moves when the opportunities opened up.

‍

With the second stints came some unfortunate performance issues for Randle, he had really bad vibration in the rear tyre and it hindered his ability to have a stable car in the wet.

‍

He described the car as it was almost lifting and aquaplaning when he hit a wet patch. Not great when your over 200km/h and trying to pull the car up.

‍

For Waters, similar grip gremlins were causing him to fall into line and just pull stints through as best he could, continuing to extract everything he could out of the car across to the end of the race.

‍

He did an amazing job holding off the chasing Feeney who was less than a second away for the last six laps.

‍

Randle battled his way to end, will put the day behind him knowing that the tyre batch was not in a working order for him to perform to his powers that we all know

‍

RACE 31

#6 Cam Waters: 2nd

#55 Thomas Randle: 20th

‍

We return to the track for qualifying tomorrow at 11:20.
