The final day on the streets of Townsville brought with it a sense of confidence after a strong team finish across three cars yesterday.

All three boys kicked off the day with a signing session in pit lane, giving fans the final chance to see the boys before they got into qualifying mode.

The week has been filled with so many great meet and greet opportunities and we cannot thank the Townsville locals for making us feel so welcomed and supported.

Then started the two part qualifying session with all three cars rolling out into sunshine at the Reid Park circuit. The track was continuing to develop throughout the weekend, but the team had faith in the strategy in their understanding of it.

Early the boys banked fast laps that had Waters and Randle in the top five, with Goodall hovering around the twentieth position.

The boys rolled into the pits with no changes needed to the cars and just waited to run the final two laps in the first part of qualifying, once again banking super fast laps and progressing on.

Goodall threw everything at the session, but again just missed the cut to progress to the second stage of qualifying.

Part two was much the same as part one, with both Waters and Randle banking good laps early and then punching through to the top ten shootout with ease a s the chequered flag fell.

QUALIFYING RACE 22 RESULTS:

#5 Reuben Goodall: 23rd

#6 Cam Waters: 2nd

#55 Thomas Randle: 7th

TOP TEN SHOOTOUT RESULTS:

#6 Cam Waters: 1st

#55 Thomas Randle: 6th

With the final briefing done, the drivers were in their game mode heading into the final race of the weekend.

As the lights went out, Waters got a great jump, putting Kostecki behind him and had eyes forward into the first few turns with no challenge. At turn three Wood made an incredible dive on the outside and almost took the lead away, but Waters was able to continue on strong.

Randle jumped well also, and whilst going three wide in the early stages, did what he could to avoid too much contact on his left side which thankfully did not cause further damage.

For the first part of the race, Randle struggled with tyre life behind Reynolds and that ultimately played into the pace he was able to put into the remainder of the day.

For Goodall, it was an unfortunate mishap where back of the pack chaos caused major front-end damage to the #5 Wildcard and he had to pit for some major repairs.

The crew did an incredible job to get it back on the track, the race tap being everyone’s friend in the Wildcard garage as the car came out in a half new livery 15 laps down.

The pit stops had been good from the team all weekend, and knowing that the race package was good, it was full focus on executing the two compulsory stops over the 200km race.

Whilst the stops were quick, the field ahead found some fast pace in the middle and final stages of the race that was just a little too much for the #6 and #55 cars to match.

Waters did all he could to chase down the front two, but a fuel saving call was made in the late stages due to being slightly short in his last pit stop.

QUALIFYING RACE 22 RESULTS:

#5 Reuben Goodall: 23rd

#6 Cam Waters: 3rd

#55 Thomas Randle: 11th

A massive hand goes to the team in the Wildcard garage, with many having little experience in the main game sessions, pit stops and long races. They deserve a lot of credit for doing everything they did over the three days.

We return to Melbourne briefly before we are back on the road for Perth in a couple of weeks.
