When the momentum is in your favour, you need to take it and today felt like that across both programs.

‍

The morning opened with dumps of rain that soured the arrival of the crew to the track, especially as it came again just as the Dunlop Series rolled out for their qualifying.

‍

Whilst the cars were on the dummy grid, the team jumped into action changing slick tyres to wet tyres to ensure the cars could manage the new track surface.

‍

Throughout the session, there was plenty of strong times being put up as the boys held their spots well inside the top ten.

‍

As the session neared the end with about 5 minutes to go on the clock, a stopped car on track brought our the red flag and ended the session prematurely.

‍

With this, it meant Logan returned to pole position for the first time since Darwin in the middle of the year and his team not too far behind.

‍

DUNLOP SERIES QUALIFYING

#5 Reuben Goodall: 3rd

#6 Ben Gomersall: 5th

#55 Nash Morris: 4th

#56 Campbell Logan: 1st

‍

With the first major session in the books, it was now time for the main game crew to roll out to drying conditions around Sandown.

‍

It was still early to roll out on slicks for Qualifying part one, so the field opted to run wet tyres for the first few flying laps.

‍

With banker laps down, it was clear that the track was developing, and lines were appearing to allow a slick tyre to be put on the car.

‍

As final stops were completed, the boys rolled out and stuck two super-fast laps that had them top five right before the chequered flag. They stayed on it and upon completing their last lap, went P1 and P2 on the timings.

‍

With a short break between part one and part two, they drivers stayed in cars and the mechanics kept the cars cool before pit lane opened once again.

‍

It was business as usual from both Randle and Waters who had clearly been given strong cars to start Saturdays proceedings. Throughout the session the boys were well in the ten and as the time ran out we progressed both into the top then shootout.

‍

SUPERCRARS QUALIFYING

#6 Cam Waters: 4th

#55 Thomas Randle: 5th

‍

With the shootout starting under the beaming Melbourne sun, it was Randle a few spots in to kick things off for the team.

‍

Across the lap it was clean and methodical from the #55, but an unfortunate dip into a water spot meant loss of grip in the last corner which cost him a few tenths and dropped him just off the pace.

‍

Waters started his flyer in typical fashion as he went aggressive against the Sandown circuit and he delivered as such with a mega time that was only pipped on the last shootout lap by 0.08s.

‍

SUPERCRARS TOP TEN SHOOTOUT

#6 Cam Waters: 2nd

#55 Thomas Randle: 7th

‍

The Dunlop crew enjoyed a much drier start to their next session as the sun was out and the water relatively gone from the circuit.

‍

Off the line, the boys jumped well with Logan holding the lead into one cleanly, Morris and Goodall not too far behind.

‍

Into the back part of the track, Morris went to make a move following Goodall and unfortunately got a bit unstuck causing contact with Dalton.

‍

He progressed on with a bit of panel damage and the three took off up the road with Gomersall only a couple of cars behind with strong pace also.

‍

From there Logan, Goodall and Morris drove strong clean races out the front with little to report other than strong pace and it was great to see a second win of the year notched for Campbell.

‍

Gomersall suffered a couple of trips off the tarmac and collisions this hindered his performance today but has the chance to clean slate and bounce back tomorrow.

‍

DUNLOP SERIES RACE ONE

#5 Reuben Goodall: 2nd

#6 Ben Gomersall: 13th

#55 Nash Morris: 3rd

#56 Campbell Logan: 1st

‍

Eyes then turned to the first race of the weekend for Supercars with 250km ahead on Saturday afternoon.

‍

Both boys were strong off the line once again and managed to stay clear of any contact through the first few laps.

‍

Randle caught up to Murray early and executed a fantastic move to push past and punch on toward the T8 car in front of him.

‍

Waters narrowly avoided a turned T8 car out the back of the track and jumped into podium contention early which was good to see.

‍

A full car fire from BRT saw the first safety car come out and the pit lane leapt into action with cars and crews flying everywhere with the unfortunate double stack hurting Randles place in the field.

‍

Randle dropped back in the field but still had strong pace, before getting checked up due to a car in front jamming on the brakes and he was rear ended which caused a puncher. Once again, returning him to the rear of the field and left to fight a long last stint.

‍

When the second safety car came out, once again the team jumped int action and got the Car #6 stop completed well and they jumped into the lead with very fast cars in tow.

‍

The race so far had been run with essentially 6 of the 7 finalists inside the 10, so every point was critical to get.

‍

Throughout the last stint, Waters was deep in battle with Kostecki and after many laps of being worn down was thrown off the track and overtaken.

‍

With the rear tyres degrading hard, it was a simple pass for Payne to get by, which looking at the points was more beneficial to try and let him go ahead and win the race to take more points away from others.

‍

Holding third, Waters did an incredible defensive job of holding off close rival Mostert who was fast in the dying laps. As there was five laps to go, he the a move which knocked Waters off and wide, smartly enough they re addressed a couple of laps later which meant he avoided penalty.

‍

Waters was able to hold the last two laps and walk away for the first podium for a couple of months. A much needed boost for morale and a great bag of points which holds Waters one point off the cut off line to progress.

‍

SUPERCRARS RACE 33

#6 Cam Waters: 3rd

#55 Thomas Randle: 19th

‍

We leave the track today confident in the cars and we switch to a more well known tyre tomorrow which has everyone in a great mood.

‍

See you at the track for a big last day tomorrow!
