The Pre Brief – The Bathurst 1000
The race that transcends generations and no matter how little of a fan that you are, there is always a story to be told about Bathurst.
This is a track that requires more than pure speed, it demands respect. For drivers, teams and fans around the world that know track, understand just how quickly a day can go from great to terrible.
Our team head to the mountain for the final round of the Ryco Enduro Cup with a mix of experience across the board, some have been visiting for 20+ years and others are heading there for the very first time. But we all arrive with the collective goal of winning the great race and returning the Peter Brock Trophy to Campbellfield.
It has been a few years since Tickford stood on the top step at Bathurst and the drive is there more than ever to make 2025 our year. The time between The Bend and now has been a step above as everyone within the team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure we put the best foot forward come practice one through to Sunday afternoon.
Driver #6 Cam Waters:
Bathurst has come at a great time for us after another strong performance at The Bend. It was great to finish on the podium with Frosty, we both got a lot out of the race and more learnings that we will take into this weekend.
I am very fortunate to have a Bathurst winner in the car with me. To hand the car over to someone with that experience and the driver partnership we have developed is what has us in a good mindset for this year’s great race.
As a driving group we have been pumped seeing everyone in the workshop go that next level in the preparation for The Mountain.
Driver #55 Thomas Randle
I can’t wait to jump back in the car at Bathurst. We left The Bend feeling optimistic, car had great speed, unfortunately a few little dramas in the race meant we just didn’t get the result we felt we deserved.
Heading back to The Mountain and having Moff in the car with me this year is awesome. He brings a lot of experience, and having also been on the podium a couple of times shows the calibre of driver that he is.
It’s pretty simple, I want to win Bathurst. No one goes to Bathurst with the thought of coming top 5 or top 10. We all go there because we want to win the great race, so bring it on.
Co-Driver #6 Mark Winterbottom:
I’ve had some fantastic results with Tickford in the past, and this feels like my best chance in a long time to win the Great Race.
Being back at The Mountain is always something special — it’s the event I look forward to every year. But to return there with Tickford and behind the wheel of a Ford again makes it even more meaningful.Cam and I have built a great partnership through this year’s enduros. We’re really in sync heading into Bathurst, and that confidence shows in how we’re working together.
We know the challenge that lies ahead — both individually and as a team — but the hunger to win and stand on that top step has never been stronger. That’s our full focus as we hit the track this week.
Co-Driver #55 James Moffat
This race really is 12 months in the making, so it is always special to get back to Bathurst for the great race.
It was not the way we wanted to kick off the Enduro Cup at the Bend but Thomas, the engineers and the team have been great to shift focus to this race in what takes every bit of the right preparation to perform.
Thomas and I have really clicked well from the start of the Enduro’s, spending a lot time together behind the scenes to make sure we are as best prepared as possible before we hit the track and being in position to contend for the biggest and best race of the year.
Driver #5 Lochie Dalton
It is going to be a massive weekend at Bathurst with double duties but to be in a Gen3 Supercar on Sunday at Bathurst is incredibly exciting.
Working closely with the team and the main game guys has been great in my preparation for the Supercars sessions and the race on Sunday.
This weekend is going to be really special and I am excited to work closely with the team in delivering a strong result on Sunday afternoon.
Driver #5 Rylan Gray
Bathurst is going to be a huge weekend in more ways than one.
Juggling drives across main game and Super2 will be interesting but to be in the main game race at the end of the weekend is fantastic.
I know what a Bathurst week already requires preparation wise as I have been lucky to race there a few times, but learning from the main game guys has been so good in ensuring we leave everything out there on Sunday.
