This week in Ipswich we close out the first phase of the season with the final three races of the Supercars Sprint Cup.
This is the second year we will see the Sprint Cup close on ‘The Paperclip’.
The trucks left to head North early this morning after a very quick turnaround at our Campbellfield factory as the cars only returned from Perth just over a week ago.
The season has provided many ups and downs across the organisation but the team has used every moment as a learning opportunity to improve week after week.
We have two trucks making the trip up to Ipswich this weekend as the Autosport truck currently hauls the Ben Gomersall #5 UNIT Racing Ford Mustang which will be our second Wildcard entry of the year.
The Queensland local will make his Supercars Debut at his home track when he rolls out for Practice one on Friday afternoon.
For Gomersall, the weekend is an opportunity to put on display his talents in a Gen3 Mustang and learn as much from the main game exposure leading into The Bend where he teams up with Campbell Logan.
Waters and Randle enter critical stages of their own campaigns for this years Championship as well.
Randle is looking to continue his fast form, continuing to cut into the points deficit that sees him sitting just outside The Finals cut off line. His recent qualifying form and race pace has him well in contention to continue his hunt of returning to the Top ten before we hit the streets of Gold Coast.
For Waters, its about continuing to learn with the Car #6 team and look to secure a Finals berth this weekend in Ipswich. All things going to plan, Waters will walk away with Finals qualification status if he finishes all three races.
We run the well known sprint cup format that we have seen the last few rounds, with all the action kicking off Saturday with two qualifying sessions and two races.
QUEENSLAND RACEWAY
3.13KM | Permanent Circuit | 6 Corners
Leaving Perth, we enter a similar, yet very different circuit in Queensland. We see similarities in heavy breaking zones and fast flowing corners which the boys held strong pace in just a couple of weeks ago.
But, we lose a lot of the elevation we saw over West, with QR being a very flat circuit around the six corner 3.13km circuit. There is a lot more bravery required here for overtaking and if you get it wrong, it can be very easy to get stuck in the run off areas as we saw in 2025.
IPSWICH RACE FORMAT (VCS)

#6 Driver Cam Waters Said
Keen to be back in the car and carrying the strong momentum we have into QR this week.
It was a bit of a bogey track for us last year, but we feel like we have learnt a lot recently which will help us close out the Sprint Cup.
Looking forward to getting to some warmer weather and hitting the track to give the fans a good show.
#55 Driver Thomas Randle Said
Excited to be heading back to Ipswich and jumping back into the car at Queensland Raceway.
We closed the gap to the top ten once again in Perth and we will be looking to do more of that this week. The qualifying pace has been great recently and we feel like we are close to nailing the race pace which will help us to get into The Finals.
It will be good to see the Queensland fans again as we look to close out the Sprint Cup on a high going into the next stage of the Championship.
#5 Driver Ben Gomersall Said
It is super exciting to be jumping into the #5 UNIT Racing Gen3 Ford Mustang making my debut this weekend.
To do it at my home track and with so many family, friends and sponsors in attendance is the perfect way to do it and I cannot thank them all enough for the support they have shown me over the years to get to this point.
There is so much I will look to get out of the weekend and learn from the main game crew, Waters and Randle. They have been so helpful in the lead up to this week and it will be just great to be behind the wheel showing them what I can do.
