The track itself was showing signs of recovery with the morning sun clearing the way for dry action on the circuit.
It is only fitting we shoutout the team who stayed back to repair car #55 last night. As the damage was slightly better than what we initially thought, it ended up being a midnight finish for the mechanics in the team garage.
A credit to those who stayed and helped which allowed Randle to return to the circuit today for qualifying.
It was an early kick off for the main game with the well known 2 part qualifying kicking off our day.
We rolled out and got the times that punched us safely inside the 10 for the first stint.
For Cindric in the wildcard, he delivered great laps over the session. Picking up time in different sectors each lap but unfortunately just didn’t have the time to get him through to the next session.
As stops were made and we sent the cars back out for the second phase, it was clear the track was developing and getting quicker.
Unfortunately the timing of Waters second phase was off and as he crossed the line, the cars behind benefited from the faster track and pushed him outside the cut line.
QUALIFYING RESULTS
#6 Cam Waters: 21st
#55 Thomas Randle: 8th
#5 Austin Cindric: 25th
With the Top 10 Shootout, it was time for Randle to repay the team and deliver a lap to pay off the hard work the night before.
Randle rolled out to small cloud cover which took some heat out of the track as he begun his flying lap.
His second sector was blistering and clearly he had put behind him the precious days incident as he flew through turn 8.
As the track developed and the remaining cars set their laps, Randle was able to jump 1 position from his qualifying time.
TOP TEN SHOOTOUT RESULTS
#55 Thomas Randle: 7th
It was then time for the first of 2 Dunlop series races. With a lot on the line for the results, there was tension in the garage as to how the race would play out.
Gray had the perfect jump that saw him lead into turn 1. Goodall was not too far behind a battling a chaotic flying couple of cars before settling into P4.
Morris and Dalton found their places after navigating the tricky first few corners, both dropping one spot from where they started.
As the race developed, we saw a huge hit as turn 8 claimed another victim from the weekend.
After a few laps of yellow, we returned to green flag racing with bumper nudging across the top 4 into the final turn before the straight.
Rylan once again took off after getting a good restart and had eyes forward for the remaining time left in the race.
Goodall was battling between p4 and p3, keeping an incredibly agile car that was punching fast laps.
Dalton and Morris were pushing to try and chase down the lead pack, but unfortunately the pace was just not there for them.
With the win, Rylan Gray clinched the 2025 Dunlop Series Championship with 1 more race left on Sunday.
DUNLOP SERIES RACE 1 RESULTS
#5 Lochie Dalton: 8th
#6 Reuben Goodall: 3rd
#55 Rylan Gray: 1st
#222 Nash Morris: 9th
The first of the 250km races welcomed sunshine and a stunning afternoon in Adelaide.
Cars started well off the line with all 3 holding positions into turn 1.
Waters started to make ground after the poor qualifying session, quickly knocking off a couple of clean passes early.
Randle was in a fierce battle during the first phase of the race, with all of the championship four around him making their own battles.
Cindric enjoyed some clear air with early pit stops made by drivers in front of him. He continued to work on his craft as the race pace got up to speed in the early stages.
From midway through the race, Randle continued to battle fiercely within the top 7, Waters had climbed around 7 spots and Cindric was finding himself in some battles as drivers made their way back through the field.
Austin unfortunately clipped the first tyre barrier a little too hard as he entered the chicane and caused a slight bit of damage to his front bar. This required a trip to pit lane and into the garage for repairs before rolling back out.
Crazy moments within the last few laps that saw a car get mounted and diving overtakes made. This allowed Waters to catchup to Randle and cause some heart in mouth moments before the chequered flag.
QUALIFYING RESULTS
#6 Cam Waters: 8th
#55 Thomas Randle: 7th
#5 Austin Cindric: 23rd
We have one more day to put it all together and roll out quick to cap off the 2025 season. Supercars hit the track at 10:00am local time for qualifying.
