The crowds flooded in on Thursday as day one of the Australian Grand Prix kicked off with Supercars action all day.

Early morning was the first chance to show the 2026 Supercars grid to the Grand Prix crowd who ventured in on Thursday morning.
Fans were piled up at the gates before the officially opened, eager to get in and amongst the action for what is set to be a huge four days of racing.
The team are adjusting to the different garage and setup conditions to what is normality at the other rounds. Not having a pit lane on track means more preparation work and ensuring you take everything out to the lane.
During every on track activity this week, we operate in front of the F2 garages which means a lot of personnel and equipment are required to be in the lane ready for any scenario.
Cars roared to life as they entered the marshalling point ready to roll out for Practice one. The session did not offer much with both Waters and Randle struggling for rear grip which became the focus of tweaking over the half our practice.
With clean runs in the book and data collected, it was back to the garages for a quick reset, debrief as preparation begun straight away for practice two.
We rolled back out to a beaming Melbourne sun to gather more data for the all important afternoon qualifying and race that was on the horizon.
Waters and Randle hit their marks and were consistent early, running on a set of used tyres and finding if the learnings from practice one could be put into action.
As both cars pitted for a final run, the mechanics dove into action to adjust their final setup requirements. As the tyres were thrown back on, there was a red flag flown with a stopped car on track after hitting the wall heavily.
This meant the sessions was unfortunately called and that rounded out the morning for the team.

Qualifying was the first time this weekend we were hoping to see some of the Sydney pace continue to grow. With such short sessions for qualifyings, there was no margin for error with only 2-3 timed laps on offer in qualifying for Race 4.
Waters and Randle both put strong laps on the chart initially, but with the track development and the car not fully stable in the corners it meant both cars fell a few spots as the chequered flag was waived.
With a short time between the qualifying's, it was a chance to adjust and reset some parameters to find a window in qualifying for Race 5.
The track development was again a slight downfall for the two cars as they only had time for one flying lap. Both drivers were relatively happy with what they were able to ring out of the car in the ultra aggressive manner. But the overall pace suffered with the field gaining incrimentally as the sesion came to and end.

With the final run of the day being Race 4, the drivers and team shifted their focus on gaining positions and securing a strong result to close out Thursday.
The race was chaos from the start, running 4 wide into turn 1. With such little laps, the window to gain spots is very limited and early improvements can prove pivotal for jumping the leaderboard.
Randle was pushed in the rear of the car entering turn 3 which inadvertently sent him into another car, but thanks to the cool head and hands behind the wheel he was able to gather the car quick enough to head on into the remainder of the lap without losing a position.
Waters was also in the middle of some fierce battles as he threw multiple moves early to jump a couple of positions before settling into a rhythm.
As the race went on, it was a matter of the track having such little overtaking areas that hindered both cars gaining places toward the front. Randle was able to pick off a few positions in the closing phase of the race whilst Waters was unable to get past Mostert on multiple occasions.
RACE 4 RESULTS

The result shows some positives but also shows some pace we need to find in both cars for the remainder of the weekend.
We only run the one session tomorrow with Race 5 kicking off in the late afternoon to close out Day 2 of the Australian Grand Prix.
