The busiest day of the weekend was upon us as the sun rose at Symmons Plains this morning.

It kicked off with a driver signing up at merch alley, which was met with big crowds and sprinkling rain.  Although, this didn’t phase the fans who were out to grab a signature and photo of the boys before they hit the track.

With pre-brief done, warmups completed and the crew finishing the set up changes that came from yesterday, it was finally time to qualify.

The session was declared wet, although that didn’t stop most of the field rolling out on slick tyres to start qualifying for Race fourteen.

With the first couple of laps used for warm ups, it became quite clear on the first flying laps that all cars on slicks were a few seconds off those on the wet tyres.

What fell in our favour was the fact we didn’t burn a set of wets early and went back out to punch respectable times inside the top ten once we switched over.

As the session ended, the boys achieved a double top ten and progressed to the second part of qualifying.

The positive momentum continued into the second part of qualifying with both boys jumping to second and third in the first few laps.

The shorter eight minute qualifying finished with Cam on a great lap but unfortunately dropping a tyre off in the last corner and ending the lap there.

QUALIFYING RACE FOURTEEN

#6 CAM WATERS: 9th

#55 THOMAS RANDLE: 10th

With the cars under parc ferme conditions, no set up changes could be made through the 20 minute break in which the drivers jumped out and debriefed with the engineers.

Then begun the qualifying for the second race of the day, this time being done on the super soft tyre. It’s a tyre the team have had a more difficult time understanding which features through most of the sprint cup rounds.

The chequered flag fell as both cars were a whisker outside the cut line and their positions were locked for the afternoons race

QUALIFYING RACE FIFTEEN

#6 CAM WATERS: 11th

#55 THOMAS RANDLE: 14th

Once again, parc ferme rules were in play which means no set up changes were allowed on the car. You could only change tyres and clean the car, anything else would have been a breach of the rules.

As the first race of the day got underway, it was clean running through all of the first part of the lap for our two cars, steering clear of any damage or contact from the field.

There was not much to report from this race apart from a lack of race pace, which was a difficult pill to swallow seeing as that had been our strong suit through the season to date.

RACE FOURTEEN

#6 CAM WATERS: 12th

#55 THOMAS RANDLE: 15th

With about an hour and a half before the next race, the team were finally able to jump in and make changes to the set up.

As the lights went out, the boys navigated overcast and cold conditions around Symons Plains to jump a position off the start line.

In the early stages of the race, both Waters and Randle held gaps in front and behind whilst they brought the tyres into the optimal window.

With stops completed both drivers came alive in terms of race pace, Waters landed 4 overtakes in the closing 5 laps and Thomas was able to pick up a couple in the later half of his stint.

RACE FIFTEEN

#6 CAM WATERS: 7th

#55 THOMAS RANDLE: 10th

The day ends on a positive note with both boys making forward moves through the field in the last race.

With a big debrief and time to set up the car for a new qualifying tomorrow, the team will reflect and look to execute everything we have learned since Friday afternoon and put it into tomorrow.

As always it is great to see so many fans and members out at the track this weekend and we will be looking to give everyone something to smile about come tomorrow afternoon.

The action kicks off at 11:35 for qualifying, followed by the top 10 shootout.
