A standard format day was on the cards for the team as we arrived at Symmons Plains for the final day of the round.

After a big day, there was plenty to debrief and it continued into the morning as the team prepared for Sunday.

We rolled out in qualifying looking to get some clean running and punch through to the top ten shootout.

Part one of qualifying went to plan with both cars making it through comfortably. Randle appeared to have the car in a better window, not falling outside of the top ten for most of the session.

As part two rolled around, the lap times were getting quicker with the top 17 cars being separated by three-tenths of a second.

The margins within the field this year are closer than ever and with such a short lap, a small tow the straights makes all the difference in getting a fast lap time.

When the chequered flag fell for the second part of qualifying, the traffic around Waters meant his lap was hampered and he missed the cut to proceed to the top ten shootout with Randle.

QUALIFYING RACE SIXTEEN

#6 Cam Waters: 13th

#55 Thomas Randle: 8th

Randle rolled out third for the shootout, completing a clean lap although, mentioned over the radio some rear grip was missing from the car to really dial in a lap that could improve his starting position.

The final hit-out of the day was the long race of the weekend.

As the lights went out, both boys were able to improve a position and keep a clean run through the first few laps.

With the three compulsory pit stops during the race, the team opted to take early stops which came just after the window opened after lap five.

Both cars took three tyres as they continued into their second phase of the race looking to run in some clean air and attempt an undercut to the field.

Unfortunately for the team, the critical race pace seemed to be not as strong as the team had hoped as the boys struggled to charge on as they had the previous day.

The crew in the garage deserve a lot of praise for executing six clean pit stops across both cars considering a few late calls that sprung them into action without warning.

Race sixteen was a disappointing way to close out the Tasmania round, especially with the positive momentum we saw coming out of Saturdays’ races.

The team will head back to Melbourne with a mountain of data to debrief on and look at what can be changed to bounce back in Darwin.

It was great to connect and catch up with so many members and fans over the weekend showing their support. The turn out by all of you considering the cold conditions does not go unnoticed by everyone in the team.

We will look forward now to Darwin as we aim to repay that support and get both Waters and Randle up the front of the grid.
