The penultimate day of the AGP handed us the full book of emotions when it came to the teams results.
We started our day with another 2 qualifying sessions to kick off the track action for the day, setting the grid for the remaining two races.
Qualifying for Race 6 was the longer of the two sessions with both boys playing the strategy came when it came to the first pit stop early in the session. As the final push back was made, it was key that the qualifying pace was just a little off still as they set leading times but slowly the field knocked them down the pack.
Randle unfortunately turned into a 8 car lineup all waiting to begin their laps, clearly with a slight issue in comms with the other drivers, there was no way all of them were going to complete their laps with such little time on the clock. He missed the chequered flag by about 3 seconds which meant his first lap counted and there was some work ahead in the race.
QUALIFYING RACE 6 RESULTS
#6 Cam Waters: 8th
#55 Thomas Randle: 17th
With a quick moment to reset before rolling out for Race 7 qualifying, once again the games were in play.
Half the field rolled out at the start of the session, giving them the chance to run a double lap. Whilst most of the cars around our end stayed in the lane for a minute before pushing back to begin the final qualifying session of the AGP week.
Waters begun his flying lap with about 10 seconds to go, with plenty of traffic around and a need to get more warmth in the tyres, it was close but justoff the mark again once the chequered flag came out and set his position fort the final race.
Randle decided to show what he had in the tank from the first qualifying and stuck an incredible fastest lap that stood for a long time.
As the final cars closed out their laps, there was only one driver that went better and Thomas was able to repay the favour to the team by having our first front row start for the year.
QUALIFYING RACE 7 RESULTS
#6 Cam Waters: 8th
#55 Thomas Randle: 2nd
With a huge break throughout the day, the boys were off doing more suite tours before settling in to ready themselves for the race.
With the Formula 1 qualifying being interrupted multiple times, the beginning of our race started close to 30 minutes behind the scheduled time.
As the lights went out, it was another hold your breath moment through the first few turns as both cars settled into a rythym.
Waters was on the charge early jumping a couple of psoitons, whilst Randle was able to jump an early spot as they both showed strong race pace.
Whilst we thought there had already been chaos, we were in for more of it today, There was spins, nudging and beached cars throughout the race which marked the first Tickford casulty of the weekend.
Randle was turned entering the second sector and he was a passenger as the car lost all grip and he was thrown into the tyre barrier ending his race then and there.
Randle is fit and healthy which is the main thing, the car will be repaired overnight and ready to race off the front of the grid tomorrow.
Waters was hot on the heels of the lead group up the front settling in to try and make some late moves and that he just did. Charging through in the final stages to hold a podium position took everyone by surprise.
We rode every moment from todays sessions and take a moment tonight to have a deep breath and look to close out the weekend with a strong result.
