IPSWICH SUPER440 – RACE HUB

THE PRE-BRIEF

After a strong finish on Sunday during the last round at Townsville, we return to the Sunshine State this week and head out to Queensland Raceway for the first time since 2019. The 3.12km permanent circuit in Ipswich, nicknamed “the paperclip” for its unique layout, may not be the most complex circuit on the Supercars calendar, but it’s a proven battle groundfor tight racing and driver discipline.

The round marks the final three races of the Repco Sprint Cup, and the newly renovated circuit will provide an opportunity for thedrivers to further strengthen their positions within the top 10 of the championship.

Both drivers head into the weekend with a focus on delivering a strong performance overall as we look to return to the top step of the podium.

Driver #6 Cam Waters:

We learned a lot leaving Townsville and finished with a good result on Sunday. We want to take that momentum into QR and put together a strong weekend overall, just like we had earlier in the year.

The car is quick, and this track will give us the chance to showcase that speed. Keen to jump back in the car and deliver the results we’re after with the team.

Driver #55 Thomas Randle:

Finishing back in the top 10 at Townsville was a nice result after a difficult string of races that had just not gone our way. Excited to return to Queensland Raceway after a few years away — it’s a track I’ve had success at in the past in Super 2 back in 2019.

The team has done a fantastic job taking what we learned from the last round, and come Friday, we want to ensure we hit the ground running in practice to set us up for the weekend.

The Dunlop Series will also feature at Queensland Raceway this weekend, with all four drivers looking to continue their incredible form following a front-four lockout on Saturday in Townsville.

Dalton, Goodall, Gray, and Morris will feature in two races across the weekend, pushing the limits in pursuit of another Tickford sweep.

Tickford Racing CEO Simon Brookhouse:

It was incredibly rewarding to see a strong team resulton Sunday in Townsville after a difficult couple of days prior.

The return to Queensland Raceway after a few years away will be a good challenge for the team, and I’m sure they’ll come together to execute a solid round and close out the Sprint Cup.

We’re also excited to keep the momentum going with our Dunlop program after the team secured a podium lockout across the two races last round.

The Ipswich Super440 kicks off Friday, 8 August, with a 40-minute practice session for the Dunlop Series starting at 9:20 AM AEST, followed by the main game hitting the track for Practice 1 at 12:05 PM AEST.
