Qualifying for Race 23 was excruciatingly close, with the top 20 being split by less than a second. For the guys, they just missed the cutoff for the top 10, both drivers set their fastest time on their final lap of the session.

The tides turned slightly as both drivers hit their mark in Qualifying for Race 24, securing a top 10 finish in part 1 and progressing to part 2 of the session. Then Queensland threw an almightly dump of rain, which caught out everyone. There were a couple of adventures off the track that sparked a quick trip back to the pit lane for some wet weather tyres. The standing water and continuous downpour was just a little too much for the guys to improve on their times.

Race 23 started to offer some dry lines, but it would bite if you stepped off it. Both drivers had strong starts, gaining a spot each over the first couple of laps. Early in the race, Cam was moved off the racing line and locked up which sent him off the track.

Tom missed the early drama on track, clawed through a couple more cars and ended up 4 spots up in 10th position.

Race 24 raced in overcast conditions but with no rain on the radar, the boys started in the top 10 looking to secure a strong result. Unfortunately, Tom was rear ended which meant he had to pit early to change out a very damaged tyre.

Cam held onto 5th throughout most of the race, and after the pit stop fought with Fullwood to secure a finish in the position he started.

"Not much to talk about for most of today.

The last race was the best part of the day, started 5th and finished 5th. Car was pretty pacey, hopefully we come back a little faster tomorrow and get on the podium."

#55 Castrol Mustang Thomas Randle said

"Race 1 was actually pretty good and finished in the top 10, even after struggling on the soft tyre.

A bit dissapointing in race 2 after getting hit off the start line and getting a puncture. We will regroup tomorrow and get a better result"

Dunlop Series

The Dunlop crew also endured a mixed bag of weather in their one qualifying and one race in Ipswich today. Rylan was the leader of the Tickford crew, followed by Lochie, Nash and Reuben. Rylan held the fastest lap but just got pipped at the post as the chequered flag fell.

Qualifying Race 1 – 14th

A stronger result came to fruition in the Dunlop race with Rylan getting a strong start off the line and took the lead into turn 1. Most of the race was under safety car as it took over 20 minutes to recover a wrecked vehicle in the gravel.

With only a few minutes left, Rylan pulled away and led comfortably to take the win. A day where our drivers didn't get a chance to show their full potential under green flag conditions.
