Goes without saying that it is great to be saying “its race week” after the few weeks off post New Zealand.
We head to a wintry Tasmania for our next round of the Sprint Cup and we get the chance for redemption after a challenging time across the ditch.
Tasmania is one of the shortest circuits on the calendar and offers some incredible overtaking spots if you are bold enough to throw a move.
Qualifying around Symmons Plains is always super tight, which means you need to be up the front end of the order to avoid the chaos and bank important laps from the very start of the sessions.
As for the racing, well it’s a different beast as we have seen in previous years as to how congested the hairpin can be early in the lap. Whilst we hope to keep it clean throughout all sessions, no doubt there will be some bent front and rear bars with cars being checked up heading into the big braking zone.
Over the course of the weekend, we will see a lot of pit strategy come into play as we usually do within the sprint rounds. Although a small track like Tasmania means that, no matter what, you will more than likely re-enter in traffic and need to be throwing big moves to shuffle your way through the field on a tyre advantage.
The below tyre allocations and compulsory pit stops (CPS) will be in place over the Tasmania weekend:
RACE 14 | Soft Tyre | 1 x CPS | 2 x Tyres Minimum
RACE 15 | Super Soft Tyre | 1 x CPS | 2 x Tyres Minimum
RACE 16 | Soft Tyre | 3 x CPS | 2 x Tyres Minimum
Both tyre compounds have slightly eluded the team when looking to unlock the ultimate pace of the car. Although, with prior success at Symmons Plains, there will be some historical data the team will look to when finding the perfect setup for the races.
2025 TASMANIA RESULTS:
CAM WATERS
- RACE 1 | Qualified 3rd | Finished 4th
- RACE 2 | Qualified 8th | Finished 3rd
- RACE 3 | Qualified 3rd | Finished 12th
THOMAS RANDLE
- RACE 1 | Qualified 1st | Finished 2nd
- RACE 2 | Qualified 2nd | Finished 4th
- RACE 3 | Qualified 8th | Finished 14th
Off the back of strong podium form in 2025 the team head south with the confidence in creating a full package that delivers strong qualifying and race pace over the 3 days.
At the end of last week we also rolled out the new TR-33 chassis which Waters will drive and debut in Tasmania this week.
In collaboration with Tickford Engineering, the rollout of TR-33 marked a historic day for Tickford Racing as it’s the first Gen3 chassis built by the team at the Campbellfield factory.
In the second half of 2025, the team committed to becoming an approved Gen3 chassis manufacturer through Supercars. The team commissioned a brand new chassis jig in the later part of 2025, utilising Engineering, Machine Shop and Fabrication departments.
Waters completed the 60km at Winton Raceway without issue and overall the team were incredibly happy with the results the day provided.
It will be great to see all the members and team fans out at the track this weekend. Make sure you catch us at a driver signing session over the weekend or at Davenport on Wednesday evening.

Great to heading to Tasmania this week, I love driving around the track there and it offers really good racing.
Leaving Christchurch, we knew we had strong race pace and it was just a matter of finding more in qualifying to get us up the order more.
The break has been good to look into some of that data and hopefully get the qualifying pace back this weekend.
As a team we have been strong there in the past and heading there we will be looking to crack the first win of the season.

Nice to be back on home soil and ready to get down to Symmons Plains as it’s a really fun track.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster start to the season for us, but Tassie is a place where we can hopefully get the momentum to swing back in our favour.
I have confidence in the car and the track that I can be quick there, the aim is to just find the qualifying pace that escaped us in New Zealand.
We have had really good success in the past starting a couple of races off the front row so we will be looking to do the same again in Tassie this week.
