It marks 28 years of dedication and commitment to Australian Motorsport for RNR, with 800 race starts, 376 race meeting attendances and 31 drivers in the seat of the RNR #55 Car.

Thomas Randle’s #55 Castrol Racing Mustang will run with a RNR decal on the car this Sunday to mark the momentous occasion.

The #55 has been a long-standing entry in the Supercars Championship and steered by a range of high calibre drivers over the years including Rod Nash himself who raced in the RNR car during its introduction.

Rod Nash Racing’s debut was as a single-car team in 1998, with an ex-Wayne Gardner VS Commodore competing in the second half of the Australian Touring Car Championship as well as the non-championship Sandown and Bathurst endurance races.

At the turn of the century, the RNR team expanded to a two-car program, with the signing of Cameron McConville who was Bathurst runner-up the previous year. Nash ran selected rounds in 2000 and the team entered a two-car program at Bathurst featuring Geoff Brabham and rookie Paul Dumbrell among its driver line-up.

In 2002 Peter Brock and RNR joined forces under Team Brock with Craig Baird driving and Ron Harrop and Peter Brock joining forces with Nash.

By 2003 RNR dissolved its relationship with Team Brock and Rod Nash leased out his franchise (now known as a Racing Entitlement Contract) to the new Ford Performance Racing team, under which it runs David Besnard’s Falcon.

From 2004 to 2010, Nash partnered with a range of team owners to run the RNR #55 REC in the Supercars Championship including Larry Perkins, Independent Race Cars and Tony D’Alberto Racing.

At the beginning of 2010 RNR moved it’s REC across to Ford Performance Racing, entering into an agreement for a car to be prepared and run alongside the team’s existing entries under The Bottle-O Racing Team banner.

Bizarrely in 2012 Tim Edwards & Anne Ross (who Rod leased the REC to at FPR) approached Rod & suggested that Prodrive UK was going to sell off the race team due to the reason the FPV & Ford Manufacturing JV came to an end. Tim’s sell was along the lines of Victor Kiam famous for the catch phrase for Remington Shavers of “I liked it so much I bought the company” to Nash, and so the deal was cemented with the  purchase of FPR in partnership with Rusty French in 2013. Sven Burcharz also joined as a partner in 2015 and the #55 entry continued to be run out of the team’s workshop.

It’s been nothing short of an incredible journey for Nash and RNR to date with 10 race wins, 21 pole positions and 53 podiums to highlight a few of the accolades.

In addition to its incredible drivers and on track achievements, the journey with long term partners has also been a trademark of RNR over the years. Nash has combined with iconic brands such as The Bottle-O for 13 years and continued strong commercial partnerships to date with Autobarn and Castrol for over 20 years to name a few.

Drivers who have steered the #55 include:

Rod Nash, Darren Edwards, Dean Wanless, Cameron McConville, Paul Dumbrell, Geoff Brabham, Tony Longhurst, Tony Ricciardello, Craig Baird, Mark Noske, Peter Brock, Alex Davison, Jamie Whincup, Allan Simonsen, Owen Kelly, Steve Owen, Tony D’Alberto, Jason Bargwanna, Andrew Thompson, Dean Canto, Jacques Villeneuve, Christian Klien, Nick Heidfeld, David Reynolds, Chaz Mostert, Jack Le-Brocq, Zak Best, Garry Jacobson, Tyler Everingham, James Moffat and Thomas Randle.

Rod Nash Said:

It’s been an honour and a fantastic experience to come from my early days of Speedway where I spent 2 decades to then in 1998 having the opportunity to join Australia's most successful motor racing category back then in the V8 Supercars.

At  that time John Falkner as a supercar entrant along with well known Engineer Les Small & Frank Adamson all assisted me in my entry into Supercars back in the TEGA days of the category.

To have worked with a number of Supercars officials, drivers, various team owners and the backbone for the motorsport funding aspect have been fantastic over the years. All the Sponsors & Partners along with many motorsport fans and clubs that have been very passionate supporters of the Supercars brands to this day.

Over the 28 years and meeting great people overall in the industry it has been a fantastic experience with a few laps racked up around various race tracks along the way both in Australia & International.

The sport currently is in great shape with the racing competitiveness closer than it ever has been and I am looking forward now entering the new format of finals for the final 3 rounds of the 2025 season.
