Following strong results on the Gold Coast, both Waters and Randle were above the cut off line and continue their championship fight into this weekend.

Our season is well and truly entering its last few phases as the pressure steps up and the team are ready to meet it head on.

The team have taken the chance fora small breather post returning from Queensland before shifting the focus to another intense weekend of racing.

Randle faces the biggest chase out of all the finalists this weekend as the team sets its eyes on securing the top 4 position it requires to progress to Adelaide.

As standings reset and bonus points are handed out, Randle (currently 7th) sits 102 points behind the current championship leader, whilst Waters (currently 4th) has a shorter margin of 72 points to the top position.

Two huge 250km races are ahead of the team this weekend in what will be another weekend of delivering consistent on track results.

There is some threat of Melbourne throwing different conditions at the team as we get closer to the first practice on Friday.

Although, we know the class of Waters and Randle love when the track plays havoc as it brings the best of their driving styles out.

Track action at the  Sandown 500 commences on Friday with 2practice sessions beginning in the afternoon local time.

We cant wait to see all the members and fans at the track this weekend cheering the team on as we look to head to Adelaide in the Championship fight.

#6 Monster Energy Mustang CamWaters

It’s great to be back at a home round and getting another chance to fight for race wins at a track I have had success at in the past.

Leaving the Gold Coast, we were happy with the consistency across the weekend in what secured some good points, but we would have liked to have been a bit quicker.

The intensity will step up again this weekend and as a team we have been working hard in the background to make sure we match that at Sandown.

It’s going to be very cut throat out there as really anyone within the current top 7 can win and were ready to fight and make sure it’s our car that’s on the top step.

The focus is session by session as we head to Sandown and ensuring come Sunday afternoon we have done what we need to battle for the Championship in Adelaide.

#55 Castrol Mustang Thomas Randle

It’s a big few days ahead for us as are continuing our fight in the Championship in the Semi-Finals at Sandown.

We’re set on rolling out with maximum aggression and there’s nothing to lose with two huge races across the weekend at Sandown.

With the high stakes of being in the semi-final, it’s going to be extra special to be running the retro livery that Lerry Perkins made so famous throughout the 90’s.

I can’t thank the people enough at Castrol, the Perkins family and Tickford Racing for putting this together.

Carrying those iconic colours across the weekend is going to be great. I want to make Larry and our team proud and hopefully it gives us the extra boost to lock away a strong result.

We have shown that we have had good speed at Sandown in the past. It was about 6 years ago at Sandown that I scored my first podium in Supercars so we will be looking to go one better over the weekend.

The ultimate goal is getting through to the top 4 in Adelaide and we will just take it day by day to give us the best chance to do that.
