As the team rolled into Day 3 at Sandown, the previous day was well and truly behind us.
We came together as a unit and discussed what the day ahead was set to look like, launching into our last chance opportunity to be in the fight in Adelaide. It was a day to take risks, fight hard and back each other in no matter the result when the race finsihed.
Waters and Randle came out swinging early, delivering fast laps in Part 1 qualifying, with tricky conditions as the clouds threw down its first dump of rain for the day.
As the drivers progressed to Part 2 of qualifying, it was similar running with both their fastest times coming toward the final lap of the 15 minute session.
QUALIFYING RESULTS
Cam Waters #6: 9th
Thomas Randle #55: 5th
It was then a short turnaround for the top ten shootout and the first chance for the team to risk a strategy call. Whilst there were parts of the track dry, there were parts of the track getting smashed by heavy rain.
Waters side of the garage opted to run slicks during the TTSO, which ultimately delivered as best a lap as possible in the tricky conditions.
As other drivers punched through their laps, the times were getting faster and faster but as luck would have it, the rain made a return around the whole circuit just before Randle rolled out of the garage.
He rolled out on wets which just were not quite providing the grip required to deliver a competitive lap in the #55 Mustang.
TTSO RESULTS
Cam Waters #6: 8th
Thomas Randle #55: 9th
On the grid, the boys were calm and ready to throw the punches in an all out scrap to the chequered flag.
We could see the clouds moving toward the track to deliver even more rain for the 250km race, but for the start it was slicks and dry conditions.
It didn't take long before both drivers were banging wheels and making the jump up the order that was required.
As the race went on and clean stops were made, both Waters and Randle were doing everything in their power to move up the leaderboard in difficult conditions.
Waters was letting no easy pass happen, throwing moves that was scraping body work and he ended up receiving a questionable penalty after moving a move that saw Brown lock up and run wide.
It wasn't much longer until we saw Waters in another battle with Payne that ended in a flat tyre and internal damage that needed to be repaired.
Randle was having fierce battles a little further back switching positions a few times as the car started to come alive toward the end of the race.
RACE RESULTS
Cam Waters #6: 21st
Thomas Randle #55: 13th
We leave the track with our heads held high, knowing that everyone within the team left nothing on the table.
To those who came out to Sandown and supported from home, we really appreciate the support even at our lowest moments over a race weekend.
We look to Adelaide now as a chance to spoil the party, take some race wins and celebrate as a team as we wrap up the 2025 Supercars season.
