Day two of the first Enduro kicked off with a couple of more practice sessions with a chance for both drivers to cut more laps in the car, before getting in some driver change practice.
The practice sessions have been moving in a positive trend for all three cars, with the pace being there and the crew ultimately just needing to tweak the comfort within the car.
The drivers are really wringing the cars around the shorter circuit and it is a small concern around the endurance required to do it over 500km.
As the day progressed, the #6 and #55 crews continued to improve the car and as the chequered flag fell on the final practice, the cars were in a much better spot with very happy drivers jumping out.
For the Wildcard garages, positive vibes throughout is allowing the team to execute a strong weekend so far. Ben and Campbell have been doing everything they need to, which ensures they get the most out of the weekend and continue in a positive direction showing the field what they can do in a Gen3 car.
PRACTICE 4:
#6 Winterbottom: 3rd
#55 Goodall: 5th
#5 Logan: 10th
PRACTICE 5:
#6 Waters/Winterbottom: 4th
#55 Randle/Goodall: 5th
#5 Gomersall/Logan: 23rd
As qualifying rolled around, it was business as usual for the three cars. Running the session how they had hoped, timing their runs with the field and executing lap after lap to the best of their abilities.
For the wildcard, it just needed a little more grip around the circuit and unfortunately Gomersall was just not able to execute that full lap required to be where the car should have been.
QUALIFYING:
#6 Waters/Winterbottom: 9th
#55 Randle/Goodall: 7th
#5 Gomersall/Logan: 25th
At the start of the shootout, there was a sense of what could be for the team, knowing they had left a little out there on the track at the end of qualifying.
Waters rolled out to purple sectors throughout and kept a really clean lap throughout as he continues to show in the one lap shootouts.
With Randle, it was just as fast a lap, a purple middle sector had everyone up and about as he came through only to fall 0.0100 behind his teammate.
With the remaining six cars crossing the line, it showed just how good the laps were from our guys as they walk away with a second row lockout.
TOP TEN SHOOTOUT:
#6 Waters/Winterbottom: 9th
#55 Randle/Goodall: 7th
#5 Gomersall/Logan: 25th
We close out the day with a positive debrief across the cards and plenty still to play for tomorrow.
The day kicks off with a warm up where we get the final chance to test the process of everything, before a afternoon start to the first Enduro at The bend.
