RACE PREVIEW

Symmons Plains is renowned for its short, fast layout that demands precision and strategic overtaking. While it may appear simple at first glance, the challenge intensifies when 24 Supercars battle for pole in qualifying, with lap times hovering around just 55 seconds.

This year’s three-race format, featuring a mix of soft and super-soft tyres, means our team must come out strong from the outset. With limited overtaking opportunities—primarily at the Turn 4 hairpin and the left-hander onto the back straight—track position will be critical.

Success will come down to nailing the car setup, with a particular focus on braking stability and traction out of the slower corners.

Thomas Randle commented “I’m pretty keen to get back down to Symmons plains for round 4 of the championship, it’s been a little bit of a break it feels since we raced in New Zealand which didn’t end too badly finishing in the top 5 there. Since then, I have raced the Bathurst 6 hour and I’ve done a round of the speed series in GT world challenge so feeling race fit and ready to go and we had some really good speed last year grabbing pole position on Sunday so looking forward to getting back on track on Friday and hopefully we can continue the speed we had last year and grab a couple of really solid results across the three races, it’s going to be tricky once again with the mixed tyre formats but keen to get stuck into it.”

Cam Waters added “Excited for Tassie this weekend, we were quite competitive here last year so hopefully we can get some poles and some podiums and maybe even a cheeky race win, get some points on the board and get that championship lead of Will Brown.”
