We head to Queensland this week for one of the most exciting events on the Supercars calendar as the team prepares for the Gold Coast 500.
Returning to the iconic street circuit in Surfers Paradise, the team is looking to make a strong statement in the first round of the inaugural Finals Series of the Supercars Championship. Known for its brutal chicanes and unforgiving concrete walls, the GC 500 provides one of the toughest tests for the drivers in blistering heat.
It has been a happy hunting ground in years gone past with the team securing a 1-2 race finish just 12 months ago. We will look to emulate that success again as we look forward to 2 massive races over the weekend.
With both Randle and Waters securing a finals spot, it’s all to play for as points shuffle slightly and the chance to move onto the next round tightens up.
The sessions across the weekend will mark a true test of physical and mental strength as the tight street circuit and heat will be major factors in keeping it on the track.
This round also marks 2 major milestones across both of our cars with 800 races for Rod Nash Racing and 40 years of Autobarn being celebrated.
Rod Nash Racing has been a hallmark of the SupercarsChampionship and been steered by some very respected names over the journey.Stay tuned for more to come on this!
We also join long term team partner Autobarn in celebrating their 40 year anniversary. To mark the milestone, Waters will run in the number40 over the weekend, including an updated Autobarn 40 Year livery on the rear of the car.
The drivers have been busy throughout this week pumping up the finals campaign and getting amongst the fans early. It is great to see the streets of Gold Coast
Track action kicks off Friday at 12:40pm local time for Practice 1.
Car #40 Waters Said:
It’s been a big week coming off Bathurst and debriefing the race that was a tough one for our side of the garage.
To be back on the Gold Coast and back in the car this weekend is a great feeling though, we know we have good pace in the car so to get another chance to show that is always exciting.
We are also in the right spot to fight for the championship, the team have had good success here in the past so that’s what we will be looking to achieve again this weekend.
It will be great to support Autobarn and their 40-year celebrations with my number change this weekend. They have been a long term partner of the team and on my car so to highlight the milestone will be good.
Car #55 Randle Said:
I can’t wait to get back on the streets of the Gold Coast this weekend.
To secure my place in the inaugural Finals Series is huge and was a key target for us this season
It’s a real concrete jungle on the streets of SurfersParadise and anything can happen around here. We will be looking to go out and execute a strong weekend to progress into the next round at Sandown. We had great form here 12 months ago.
Being in the car on Sunday will be extra special as we celebrate 800 races of Rod Nash Racing. Rod has been a great supporter of mine over the years with the team so to have been behind the wheel of the #55 for my whole main game career and on this special milestone is fantastic.
